New Guidelines for Use of Computer Stations
Each CAP Site has specific rules and policies that must be abided by
in order to make sure everyone gets an equal opportunity with the computer.
The rules for Killaloe are as follows:
1. No installing games or Programs
2. Please sign in and out before and after using either of the workstation.
Sign up sheets are located on the table.
3. If other users are waiting to use a station please limit your use
to one hour. If you would like to book in advance, call 757-3108.
4. Printing: .25 cents per copy or $ 1.00 a colour copy.
These systems are monitored by "Net Nanny" as well as CRC staff,
therefore please do not view sites containing inappropriate content.
Internet Policy
Preamble
While recognizing that the Internet provides access to a vast array of
tools and resources for different age levels and points of view, we do
not act in place or in absence of a parent. We are not responsible for
enforcing "any restrictions" of which a parent or guardian may
place on a minor's use of this resource.
Patron Responsibility
Workstations must be started up and shut down by the staff only.
Not all Internet sources provide accurate complete age appropriate or
current information. It is the user's responsibility to question the validity
of any information.
Parents and guardians are responsible for monitoring their children's
Internet activity and choice of workstation. Filtering software does not
replace the need for parental guidance.
Be aware that the workstations are in public areas shared by people of
all ages and sensibilities. Although measures have been taken to increase
privacy, complete privacy cannot be guaranteed. Each user is involuntarily
exposed to what is displayed.
Respect the privacy of others using public access workstation. Where
permitted by copyright, users may print their information with the CRC
staff's assistance.
The Following Activities are prohibited:
Use of workstations for illegal, actionable or criminal purposes or to
seek access to pornographic or unauthorized areas.
Infringement of copyright and other intellectual property.
Use of FTP (File Transfer Protocol).
Use of personal disks and software programs. Unless permission is granted
by the supervising staff .
Subverting or attempting to subvert any security devices in either software
or hardware which the CRC staff has installed on its Internet workstation.
Installing or attempting to install viruses or other programs designed
to damage or alter software on the workstation, local area network or
the Internet, or seeking unauthorized access to any computer system.
Sending unsolicited commercial material or spamming.
Misrepresenting oneself as another use.
Attempting to modify or gain access to files, passwords or data belonging
to others.
Vandalism.
Consequences of Violating Internet Access and Use Guidelines
Users in violation of the Internet access and use guidelines may have
their Internet privileges revoked. Repeated violations will result in
removal from the CAP site.
Misuse or abuse of the computers or programs is not acceptable. Offenders
may be required to leave the site.
Patrons using the Internet workstation for illegal purposes will be subject
to prosecution. Vandalism or theft property is illegal and will be reported
to the police.
