Toy Bus brings lots of things for kids to do.
There is a slide, a kitchen, table and chairs, a paint easel,
ride-on toys, and lots of smaller toys that are placed on
play mats for the children to sit down and enjoy! Every visit
will bring something new and exciting like pop-up tents, tunnels,
puppet theatre, sand, water or rice play centres, parachute
play, and the list goes on.
The lending library has toys, books and videos
you can borrow. For parents and caregivers, there are parenting
books and videos that cover a wide array of subjects. The
Toy Bus Program asks parents to pay a fee of $10.00 per year
to help cover replacement cost of the toys.
Toy Bus staff are happy to find information
on child development, parenting, and family living topics.
Just ask!
Parents and caregivers enjoy this time to take
a break and talk to other adults who are currently raising
and caring for young children. Support and helpful information
is important during these years. The Health Nurses also visit
the playgroups once a month and are there to answer any questions
you might have.
Playgroups run from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
During the last half hour of playgroup, the toys are cleaned
up and we are ready to sing and read. The Toy Bus Staff sing
a variety of songs with the families. After this, everyone
washes their hands and gets ready for stories and a healthy
snack.
It is a busy hour and half that is full of fun
and excitement! Come out and enjoy yourself and your children.
